Hikone Castle (2018), autor jpellgen (@1179_jp)
Hikone-jo in Shiga Prefecture is one of five National Treasure castles in Japan, and home to the Ii Clan. It is also one of 12 original castles, dating back over 400 years. Although most of the buildings were intentionally taken down, the 3-story tenshu is still in tact as are many of the yagura (turrets). While not as vast as the grounds of Osaka Castle, or as complete as Himeji-jo, this is still an impressive place to visit.
