2015 - Nuremberg - Frauenkirche Interior, autor Ted's photos - Returns Mid April
The Nave of Nuremberg's Frauenkirche.
The stained glass windows contain three original panes that are the oldest stained glass windows in Nürnberg, dating back to Emperor Charles IV’s commissioning of these windows for the Frauenkirche.
In WWII, the church was almost destroyed, leaving only the side and front walls standing. It was rebuilt in the following years, with a further refurbishment taking place between 1989 and 1991.
The main altar is the "Tucher Altar" which was the high altar in the Augustine Church up until 1487.
The Tucher altar (ca. 1445) is considered the most important work of panel painting in the pre-Dürer period.
The wall altar is named after the Nuremberg patrician family Tucher.
