Colfax Avenue Built: 1917 Year of designation: 1994 Current use: concert venue Although it is primarily a concert venue today, the Ogden was among the first theaters in Denver built specifically to show “moving pictures.” Financiers John Thompson and J.A. Goodridge began work on the Ogden in 1916. It was completed in a year later and opened on September 6, 1917. The Ogden is a fine example of Mediterranean style, combined with Renaissance Revival details, in a commercial building and is the work of prominent architect Harry W.J. Edbrooke.
